Friday Flower Power

Happy Friday all! You will have to forgive a not-so-cohesive post today, I was stuck in traffic for 2+ hours yesterday cause a semi full of frozen chicken jackknifed and burst into flames on highway 121. Yes, I said frozen chicken. I'm a little tired.
(You will be glad to know no one was hurt.)

Anywho, on to the prettiness! Please enjoy my newest obsession: Emersonmade. I pretty much want to plaster everything she makes all over my clothes (including my wedding dress), shoes, house, dog, fiance...basically anything that will hold still for more than 4 seconds. Not only is Emerson (the cutie-pie behind the fab floral creations) completely talented, but she is also the beautiful model in all her product photos. And, if her success and artistic prowess aren't enough to induce a little envy, get this: she lives on a farm with her handsome hubby and they have a duck (who also pops up on her blog from time to time). I want to live on a farm with a duck and design flowers!!! Until that day, I will continue to adore & covet Emersonmade's creations.

Have a lovely weekend- I am off to see the Old 97's at the Musink Festival tonight.
Who knows, maybe I'll follow in my brother's footsteps and get inked...
Ok...maybe not.

Currently Channeling: Knack Studios

My decorating obsessions always ebb and flow. I go through rounds of wanting to redecorate everything, tear the whole house apart and redo it all. Maybe its part of this "nesting" thing that goes with getting married? Hmmmm... Anyway, I have been spending time getting ideas for beautiful, inexpensive DIY projects I can sink my crafty little teeth into. In my design inspiration travels, I always check in with Design Sponge, and her awesome "Before & After" section. As it happens, going through all these posts led me to Knack Studios. This little Greenville, South Carolina Treasure is aaaaaaaaamazing! Specializing in refinishing and refurbishing, they create beautiful, functional pieces out of what some might consider garbage. I am going to try to tackle our bedside tables this weekend- they are dying for a new coat of paint and some cute knobs. Cascarones: Spanish for Awesome Easter Craft

Actually, Cascarones means "Shells" in Spanish. Learning something new everyday...

Cascarones (colorful confetti eggs) are made by first emptying the egg contents out through a hole at one end. The empty shell is then thoroughly washed and dried. The clean shell is filled with confetti, sealed with tissue paper, and dyed fun colors. Then, the best part, you get to crack it over someone's head! Good times!

The origin of cascarones is a little muddled. The cascarone stems from the Italian Renaissance when Italian gentlemen would fill emptied eggs with beautiful perfumes and scented powder to give to their beloved. As with the pinata, the Italians allegedly got the practice, via Marco Polo, from the Chinese, who filled the eggs with powder. The practice of making hollowed-out, surprise-filled eggs moved from Italy, into Austria, France and then to Spain.
