Birthday Wishes, Printable Pretties & Endless Possibilities

Happy Friday! First off I would like to wish my super sweet almost-sister-in-law Nicole a Happy Birthday (well, sort of...she's a leap year baby, so I guess we just have to pretend this year!) We are headed to Austin today to spend the weekend with her and do a winery tour. Yay! Happy Birthday Nicole- Love you!!

Do you heart Amy Butler, Heather Bailey, & Anna Griffin- with their perfect patterns and yards and yards of to-die-for fabric? Yeah, me too. Do I have boatloads of cash laying around to have my own fabric produced? No. Sad. Enter Inkbloom, a very cool website that has a library of designs you can download and a product called Loomtak that lets you print fabric & vinyl art on your inkjet printer. Print your own fabric! How cool is that?! The possibilities are endless. Of course, my thoughts turn to wedding applications (favor bags, custom napkins, wine labels...) but you could really use this for anything. Mood Boards: Productive Organization Tool or Major Time Suck?

I say both. I love making them! And I spend waaaaay too much time doing it. I really think it is because I am a visual learner and, over my many years as as designer, I have learned that the best way to get an idea across is to draw a picture. Then people get it. And since I am relying on a whole mess of vendors to pull this wedding off, I truly think these mood boards will be super helpful. If not, at least I had fun putting them together. Right? Right. Here are two of my newest ones. (Please don't ask how many I've made so far, its embarrassing...)

I Heart Yoga Yoga

In my quest to find some sort of excercise I enjoy, and to tame my ADD-ridden, overly-anxious personality, I decided to try a Kundalini yoga class at Yoga Yoga here in Austin. I was excited, but a bit curious about the description of "chanting" and the use of a gong mentioned in the brochure- relaxing? or a lot of new-age hooey? Well, I have to tell you- it was amazing. My instructor Linda was very sweet and explained everything in detail, and, though the chanting was a little unnerving at first, it actually kind of grew on me. It was nice to be in a room filled with people who are open to trying new ways to relax and improve themselves, like a little community. And after 75 minutes of bliss-which included breathing excercises, meditation, strenghtening moves (I'm still sore), and yes, even a gong, they give you the yummiest yogi tea (basically warm chai). I left feeling all lossey-goosey and warm and can't wait to go back- I heart you yoga yoga!
