(4) Could my hubs be any cuter? The answer is no.

(6 & 7) Ol South Pancake House in Fort Worth. Yum-o.

Happy Tuesday lovelies! This week has been a big ball of crazy-pants! Because I've been working a ton, we have started getting up in the early am to continue our running training. This is cutting into my bloggy blog time in the evening cause I have to go to bed like an elementary school kid so I'm not a total zombie in the morning. So, if I'm sometimes MIA, I apologize! As you all know, sometimes life gets in the way of stuff.

So, until I get back in full blogging gear, here are some snaps form the last weekend: My good friend Julie's 30th Birthday (ie. good friends, a four course dinner, cake, cocktails, karaoke, & dancing on a downtown Fort Worth rooftop. Ah-mazing.) We made it a little weekend getaway and booked a hotel in downtown Fort Worth for Saturday night. It was so nice to have a little time away just the hubs and I. Sunday morning, after the party madness, we slept in and then went for big stacks of pancakes and coffee at Ol' South Pancake House.

Weekend perfection.

P.S. Is anyone else watching this Pregnant in Heels show? WOW! Two things: Rosie Pope has some nerves of steel & there is not enough money in the world for me to deal with those pregnant grumpy bitches all day. Yeah, I'm hooked...
I heart Bravo.

Hello Random

Hi Pretties! Happy Pre-Friday!

I warn you, this post is a big pile of random. But I wanted to share, so bear with me. So, I get a text from husband yesterday that he got me a treat. You should know that sometimes he thinks buying me cereal at the grocery store is a treat. Its not. Its just groceries. But don't tell husband- it'll make him sad.

Anywho, when I get home he makes me run around the house doing a present scavenger hunt. He said he would tell me when I'd found all of them. Long story short, after about a half an hour I held in my hands my fave Chobani Greek yogurt (a bulk pack from Costco!), a Where the Wild Things Are T-shirt and one of my favorite things on the planet-Nutella. That man knows me so well.

So after that, we are supposed to run 4 miles to get back on our training schedule. Did we? Um, no. Instead we went to Heaven on earth (ie: Whiskey Cake in Plano) and pigged out on homemade fries, deviled eggs with smoked salmon and capers, the OMG burger and the cheesy chicken melt. Yum.

Check out some fun pics of our adventures above...

I love Random Wednesday Date Night.

And just to continue the randomness, here are some things I am totally obsessed with in or cannot stop daydreaming about...

Pinterest. Hello time suck awesomeness. Check my boards here.

A Cardboard Moose Head for my office. Because...oh hell, why not?

The Devil in The White City by Eric Larson.
(Murder & Architecture- to of my fave things to read about. Should I be concerned?)

This, this and this at Anthro (oh yeah...and this.)

CAN'T WAIT to head to New Orleans (and stay here!) in a month for a bachelorette party. (I've never been...)

My new dress (to wear at said bachelorette party.)

Thinking I want to refinish my old armoire in a lovely grass green

Almost wet my pants laughing at Awkward Stock Photos.

We did it!!!

So, I used to be a "runner" (emphasis on the quotation marks.) Throughout all of the training and long runs over the last several months I never really felt like a true runner. I was just trying, just one of those people who hoped to be a real runner someday. Well, guess what, now I AM a runner. No quotation marks.

Yesterday, I finished my first half marathon-along with my hubs (whose 1st time it was as well) and my parents (both seasoned marathon veterans.) It was one of the most rewarding moments of my life. To see everyone there together, all for a beautiful cause, everyone cheering each other on, smiling and laughing-it was a day I will never forget. Breast cancer is a horrible disease, and no one deserves to go through it. I have so much respect and love for all of the survivors (one in particular-KJ!) and those who have battled bravely. The thing that got me through the race was thinking of these amazing women. Thank you everyone for your support and love throughout this journey. I couldn't have done it without you!

So, here's what I learned through the training and half marathon experience:
1. If you really commit, and pray, you can do ANYTHING.
2. It is 50% physical and 50% mental.
3. I am stronger than I think I am.
4. Anyone can be an athlete.
5. My husband and parents are the most amazing people in the world (well, I already knew that.)

Yes, I am still tired. And really sore. But I can't wait for my next run.

For Japan with Love

I'm sure all of you are well aware of the disaster happening in Japan. Every morning I sit in bed and watch the news, horrified at the devastation and so very grateful that my loved ones are safe, and feeling so blessed to be ok. I can't help but thinking that those affected are families just like mine, with children, jobs, and friends. They are no different than I am, and yet they are facing something I could never dream of. My heart and prayers truly go out to all those affected. And of course everyone should do all we can to help. Whatever you are able to give- prayers, donations, both...I know it will make an impact. You can donate to The Red Cross here, or join in the effort with the For Japan with Love project. As an additional show of support, I will be taking part in their Bloggers Day of Silence tomorrow, March 18th. If you are a blogger as well and would like to participate you can find out more info here. God Bless you and yours.
