Weekend Wrapup

What do a ridiculous amount of pink pom poms, wearing a bra on the outside of your clothes, a home brew kit, man pedicures and margaritas have to do with each other? Thats pretty much our weekend in a nutshell.

My Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure outfit. Cute huh?

The pink pom poms that decorated our Komen booth.

Yep, that's my hubs with my 2 bosses Jim & Fred at the Komen Race.
Aren't our shirts hysterical?! Love my job.

The hubs enjoying his very manly pedicure.

I got a pedi and a Shellac mani- those things last forever!

A nice way to wrap up a fun weekend!

3 Drowned Rats & A Skinny Girl

Ok, first of all, I cannot take credit for the title of this post. My cutie-pie friend Lindsey came up with it to describe the ridiculousness we endured to meet the adorable Bethenny Frankel, of Real Housewives and Skinnygirl Fame. She was is Dallas this past Friday to promote her Skinnygirl Margaritas. Our awesome boss let us sneak out of work early, even though he had no clue who we were going to see. Flash forward to about 500 girls (and a few guys) huddled under umbrellas in a downpour outside a liquor store. Classy, no? Yeah, we waited in the pouring rain for 2 hours, and only got to see Bethenny for about 10.3 seconds, but she was cute as a button (and waaaaaay tinier in person) and we totally had some girl bonding time. Love you Katherine and Lindsey! Oh, and Bethenny.

Oh, and could I look more excited in this picture? Like a scary stalker. Take it down a notch, Lauren...

Word to my Mother

Growing up, I was always late everywhere. And although I'm a lot more punctual now, I still have my moments of serious tardiness. Take this Mother's Day post for example. Embarrasingly late. But isn't that the good thing about mothers? They always think what you do is precious- even when its way overdue.

On that note, Happy Belated Mother's day to my best friend. You are beautiful, funny, smart, sassy and endlessly kind. I don't know what I did to deserve to get you in the mom lottery, but I am grateful for you everyday. You are a blessing to everyone's life that you touch and I am so very proud that you are my mom. I love you, love you, love you.

P.S. And, if getting the world's most amazing woman for a mother wasn't enough, my mother-in-law is completely wonderful! I truly could not have asked for a better second mom. I love you Karen!!

A Trip to the Farmer's Market (and a Very Italian Cinco de Mayo)

Feliz Cinco de Mayo Amigos! Is everyone relaxing with a margarita? Yep. Me too. Possibly because I worked 11 hours today? Thats a big yessir. Good thing I love my job.

Switching gears...I checked off another item on my 30 before 30 list this past weekend! Hubs and I visited the Dallas Farmers market for a little a lot of eating, shenanigans and buying yummies for our tummies. We started off with homemade tamales from La Popular- chicken, beef and pork for him, chicken and veggie for me. Holy yum. After stuffing our faces with awesome tex mex, we waddled over to the gelato stand to inflict more calorie damage. I had salted caramel and the hubs dug into green tea gelato. So so dang good. Now, sufficiently full, we wandered the market, checking out flowers, home goodies, and row after row after row of gorgeous produce. After bartering with the cutest, tiniest lady and a couple a scary looking guys, we headed home with our spoils- tons of bright red strawberries, apples, juicy plums, peaches, sweet corn, and grass fed sirloin. Hello Sunday steak night with grilled sweet corn. Loved spending a beautiful day with my bestie.

We have been enjoying our produce all week-and decided to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a traditional... Italian feast. Weird right? Well, we had mexican last night. And I wanted to make a pizza recipe I found with peaches. And our peaches won't be good much longer. And at least I had a margarita to celebrate.

Here are some of my fave recent recipes made with our farmer's market haul:

Chicken, Peach & Gorgonzola Pizza

Pioneer Woman Tomato, Zucchini and Feta Pasta Salad

I think the post title says it all. You might have thought I had fallen off a cliff or something right? Nope. Just a busy bee. So busy in fact, that I had a small meltdown at work this morning. That's always fun. Now all the people at my new job think the new girl is mentally unstable. Lovely.

Hey, it happens to the best of us right? Sometimes you just have to hide in the work bathroom and boo-hoo it up. Then head back to your desk and try to pretend you're not a lunatic. Good times.

So, here are some things I wore last week. At least I'll look cute when I'm being involuntarily committed...
