Weekend in Pictures...

Spending a lazy Sunday in our PJ's, making a late breakfast of waffles, turkey sausage & yummy coffee, working on my blog design (in my fave moccasin booties), reading, napping...and its snowing outside.

Perfect Day.

Dear Husband...

Happy Friday lovely readers! I have an announcement... I've decided to devote my Friday posts to my husband. Why? Well, I love the concept of Today's Letters and read it everyday. The Loerkes are such a sweet couple and their blog is such an inspiration to celebrate all of the moments in marriage-both big and small. I love the idea of being able to go back through these posts and remember the millions of things that make my husband so amazing. So here we go...

Dear Husband...
This year, we celebrated our first Christmas and New Years Eve as marrieds- here's to a bazillion more. I love that we are making our own traditions-like having a Christmas Date & opening our gifts just the two of us and exchanging ornaments every year as keepsakes.

We are one week into our training for our first Half Marathon and you are THE BEST training partner. I look forward to our runs together so much! I couldn't do this without your encouragement and support. When we were almost home last night and I really wanted to stop, you put your hand on my back to let me know you were right behind me, and I knew I could make it the rest of the way.

Thank you for bringing me coffee in bed every morning and kissing my nose before you get up. And for being so sweet when I have bad dreams- you know just what to do to make me feel better.  I want to always remember all the funny, sweet, amazing things you do for me.

You are the best. I'm so lucky to be your wife.

What the what? (Dallas Rock n' Roll Half Marathon)

Do you ever think something sounds like the most genius idea you've ever heard, only to wake up the next morning thinking "Um, wait....what?" Yeah that just happened to me. Mom and Dad were in town yesterday, and we went to yummy Maggiano's for dinner. OMG- I wanted to crawl into my Chicken Parm dinner and live in there. Yummo.

Anyway, did I mention that Mom and Dad are Marathon Runners & Tri-athletes? Yeah, they pretty much rock. Mom qualified for the Boston Marathon this year (that will be her 9th marathon) and Dad will be doing the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon too. They are my heroes.

So we are at dinner last night, stuffing our faces with pasta, and I am talking about my 30 before 30 goal to do a 5k. And somehow it progressed to discussing the Dallas Rock n' Roll Half Marathon. And then when we get home, & husband and dad sign both the hubs and I up! Wait, what?

I am equally excited and nervous. I love to exercise, but I am not a runner. I tend to stick to spinning and yoga, so this is a definite departure. But husband is an amazing motivator, and I love the idea of doing a race with my parents. And I am committed to the Komen cause- which makes it even better.
Holy crap-here we go!

Now the hubs and I are off to get fitted for proper running shoes...
Wish me luck! (I'll let you know how its going.)

7 Things (& 30 for 30 Day 22, 23, & 24)

Happy Happy Monday to you all! How was your weekend? I have to say, Friday was one of the best days ever- everyone seemed to be in the Holiday spirit. I took a little trip over to Northpark to pick up a few things & I swear people were smiling and chatty and happy left and right. And I got about 12 compliments on my fave turquoise shoes. And a compliment on your shoes always slaps a smile on your face, right? Right.

Also, I have been tagged!! In my couple of years of blogging I have never been tagged by another blogger on anything. And now I've been tagged by 2! Thank you to lovely Jen over at Pretty in PDX and Jo at Daily Haiku for asking me to share. Here are 7 things about moi:

1. I have had 7 car wrecks- all of them my fault. And I smashed up a Vespa while studying abroad in Sicily.

2. When I was in 4th grade I took sewing classes and made my own clothes for fun. See photo evidence below. Yeah, I made that.

Jealous?

3. Hope this next one isn't odd to share, but I don't think it should be embarrassing as lots of people deal with the same thing everyday. I have had terrible skin for most of my life. And I tried everything to get rid of my acne. Finally, this past year, I had a series of 10 painful laser treatments and now I have perfect clear skin! Uncomfortable? Yes. But so worth it.

4. My husband is my best friend. (Ok, so this may not be crazy or weird or unexpected, but its true. And awesome.)

5. I have a terrible sense of smell. Most of the time, I can't really smell anything. I think its related to my allergies and what the Hubs refers to as my "Alien Nose Polyps."

6. I'm addicted to Audiobooks. My Audible subscription is one of my most favorite things ever. Its the only thing that keeps me from getting road rage (see #1.) Fave Audible listens: Life of Pi, The Forgotten Garden, The Girl Series & Her Fearful Symmetry.

7. My hands-down, all-time favorite food is cereal. Actually, I am eating it for dinner right now.

Ok, I have to say, I am a remix slacker. I blame the cold/strep/sinusitus I've had for a month. Nobody wants to see some lady in her sweats. But now I'm back in full force & ready to do this thing! Check out Days 22, 23 & 24...

Moustaches, Allergies & Christmas Trees & (30 for 30 Day 19)

I think I'm allergic to my vest. Which is weird cause its faux. But everytime I wear it I need an extra Allegra (but I love it, so whatever. I'll just dope up.) Anywho, December is here, which means the hubs and I headed out to get our first married Christmas Tree. We bought a fake one last year, because our allergies are so bad, but the house just didn't smell like Christams so we decided to get a real one anyway. And just take more Allegra. (Are you sensing a theme here? Yes, I am allergic to EVERYTHING.) I looked for a farm in our area to no avail, so off to Home Depot we went. Geoff was so excited about how good all the lovely little trees smelled. I even took a picture of him smelling them. So dorky. And then we celebrated our haul with Mexican food and margaritas. Not a bad little holiday date night of I do say so myself.

So here is what I wore for the Christmas tree hunt. Luckily we found a giant tree for me to pose in front of earlier in the day. (So the post has a theme-Pretty clever, huh? Ok. Maybe not.) This outfit came together by grabbing several things I haven't worn in my remix in a while, piling them on, and hoping I don't look dumb. I actually like how it came out- especially the world's longest socks bunched up over skinny jeans. Only 11 more looks to go...

And last but not least...No more Moustache!! YAY! Movember is over and the hubs' face has returned to its normal (creepy-moustache-free) state. He raised $578 & his team raised $1474 for men's cancer charities. Thank you to all who donated & for all the guys that dontaed their upper lips for a month. I am so proud of my baby!
