Burlap: Suprisingly Elegant

Good Monday to you all! I hope you had a great weekend!
We did- lots of rest and a little too much junk food, but whatever...

On Sunday I made a trek to the fabric store in search of odds and ends to make some crafts that have been on my list for a while. New spring fabric for dog bandannas? Check! Fabric for various wedding projects? Check! Felt for backing some retooled brooches? Yep-got that too. And one surprising purchase: burlap. I remember seeing these adorable pennant banners from Funkyshique on etsy a while back and thinking how pretty they were. How brilliant to take something as utilitarian as burlap and make it romantic! I will be making one that says "Just Married" to adorn either our cake table or getaway car!! And then I though how cute it would be to use burlap on the tables to tie in the pennant banners. Plus, it'll make the white china and orange napkins really pop! Apparently a lot of other people had this same idea: I was able to find so many cute examples and even directions to make my own runners on Style Me Pretty. How devine!

Friday Flower Power

Happy Friday all! You will have to forgive a not-so-cohesive post today, I was stuck in traffic for 2+ hours yesterday cause a semi full of frozen chicken jackknifed and burst into flames on highway 121. Yes, I said frozen chicken. I'm a little tired.
(You will be glad to know no one was hurt.)

Anywho, on to the prettiness! Please enjoy my newest obsession: Emersonmade. I pretty much want to plaster everything she makes all over my clothes (including my wedding dress), shoes, house, dog, fiance...basically anything that will hold still for more than 4 seconds. Not only is Emerson (the cutie-pie behind the fab floral creations) completely talented, but she is also the beautiful model in all her product photos. And, if her success and artistic prowess aren't enough to induce a little envy, get this: she lives on a farm with her handsome hubby and they have a duck (who also pops up on her blog from time to time). I want to live on a farm with a duck and design flowers!!! Until that day, I will continue to adore & covet Emersonmade's creations.

Have a lovely weekend- I am off to see the Old 97's at the Musink Festival tonight.
Who knows, maybe I'll follow in my brother's footsteps and get inked...
Ok...maybe not.

Haha! I totally crack myself up with my terrible limericks! No one else thinks they're funny, but that's not really important, right? Hmmmm...

Try your hand at pop-up maps, guest book garland, or hand-stitched photo albums. Paper is definitely playing a big part in our wedding-and I can't wait to scour this book for great ideas.
