Dear Dad...

Yep, I am hijacking my usual Dear Husband post this week. Today is my Dad's birthday, so the hubs will have to take a backseat on the blog today so I can celebrate the very first man in my life. 

Dear Dad...

Things that are so special about you: you have the world's biggest heart, and do so many things for others. you are a true Renaissance man- you can paint, draw, sculpt, restore a car, play the guitar, run 2 fabulous restaurants, sing, do marathons and tri-athalons, practice law, make killer breakfast, design our house remodel...I could seriously go on forever.

Thanks for being an amazing dad and someone I always look up to. I am so lucky to be your little peanut.

I didn't say banana? Ok, that was lame. But I'm kinda lame sometimes- hey, it happens. One thing that is not lame? This super cool orange belt (that I picked up at Banana Republic this week for a whopping $6. Sweet, right?) Orange and turquoise are definitely my favorite way to add pops of color and a little bit of interest to an outfit. Plus, I belt almost everything, so an orange belt was pretty much a no brainer. And if that wasn't enough goodness from BR, I saw this cute idea for an ensemble and snapped a pic to recreate later. And here I am, in all my BR knockoff glory. Enjoy kiddos!

Oh, I almost forgot, meet my new friend Marc. I decided, since I'm turning 30 this August, I would treat myself to a little early birthday present. So I picked up the Marc by Marc Jacobs Hillier Hobo in Black that I have been lusting after for a while. Its made of gorgeous Italian leather, is a classic shape, and I know it will be my go-to for a long time to come.

The Secret to the Carrie Bradshaw Bun

I don't know about you, but I loved when Carrie on SATC wore her hair in a huge ballerina bun. So pretty. So I gave it a try a while back, and unless you have ungodly amounts of hair, this style is a no-go. Or so I thought...

Until I learned the secret. An ordinary sock. Thank goodness for hair tutorials on youtube! Can't get enough of them. Here are my inspiration photos, my take on the sock bun, and my new fave video that taught me the the sock bun.

Leopard: Not just for hookers and pin-ups

I adore a good leopard print. I love that it is classic, seasonless and glamourous. I love throwing pops of it on with an outfit to take it up a notch: my gorgeous vintage leopard bag from my granny, ponyhair leopard flats, a silk scarf, an adorable printed chiffon blouse...all of these make me smile. And makes my husband wrinkle up his nose. He hates animal prints (bless him) - saying its only for hookers and pin-ups. Not so, dear hubs. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.
