Modern Farmhouse Kitchen

With the wedding projects winding down (only 3 weeks away!) I have to say, my thoughts are turning to my next big project. I think I must get this from my dad- he's not so great at sitting still and is always happiest when he has a project (or 3) in the works. What might this new little undertaking be? Well, 1st comes love, then comes marriage, then comes... house hunting! (Did you think I was going to say "a baby carriage?", um, not so much...) We have been looking casually, chatting about what we have to have and can live without in our new little nest. But after the wedding, we hope to actually buy in the next year or so. And I have to say, the kitchen can really make or break a potential home. I am dreaming of a warm bright kitchen, with dark woods, white walls, gorgeous hardwood floors, lots of chrome and pops of red (like my fave Big Red.) I love the look of a modern cozy vintage farmhouse (I said modern, not a bunch of roosters and hay...)
I am obsessed with these kitchens:

Lonny Loveliness

EEEEK! Its back again- the online shelter publication sensation Lonny. And this newest issue does not disappoint! I have been trying to work on our house bit by bit. Right now I'm a little obsessed with little tableaus- clusters of knick-knacks, book, art, etc on table tops. This issue is chock-full of great ideas for groupings. Check it out here. Have a beautiful day!

Love the Rhino head- I have been seeing faux taxidermy everywhere. So cute for a kids room!
Can't wait to try Katie Lee's yummy pea soup recipe- she's darling!

Loving all these little shots of clustered objects. I really love the crisp white desk against the dark wall- so fresh. And the leaning pictures- I prefer to lean artwork rather than hang it- that way, I can move it around on a whim and layer it. And I am going to try some groupings of objects on our bedroom dresser to create a Lonny-inspired look.

The mix of textures here is perfect- the rugged leather chair paired with the modern glass and feminine charm of the patterned rug and soft gray sofa-LOVE!

Westies! Like my baby Calvin!!

Loving the pops of color with the crisp black and white accents. Totally gorgeous. I'm definitely going to copy the little grouping on the top left.

So eclectic and worldly.

Spring Cleaning Goodies

Happy Tuesday all! Feeling much more awake today than yesterday- YAY! Its going to be 80 degrees in Dallas today, spring is finally rearing its sweet little head. I gotta say, it is long overdue. I am one of those blessed with seasonal depression-I swear, too many gray days are enough to drive me bonkers. But when spring finally shows up, I am so ready to shuck off the coats and start reorganizing and cleaning-out. Like my own little rebirth. This spring, however, I happen to be smack-dab in the middle of wedding planning. So I am going to squeeze in organizing and crafting in wherever I can. What better way to start off our married life together?! An organized home is a happy home, right? Right.

So, here are the crafts I'm dying to tackle once I get a few spare moments...

ADORABLE Chalkboard Paint Jar Labels via The Inadvertant Farmer.
Love the idea of all my ingredients labeled and easy to find!

This is the perfect way to store our winter clothes and shoes!
Closet on Wheels under-bed storage from The Craft Queen (aka Martha)

Craft Material Organizer from (who else) Martha. I am DETERMINED to organize my boatloads of craft supplies. SERIOUSLY- I can't find anything when I need it. I'm dreaming of turning our office closet into a super organized crafts and wrapping hub. Wish me luck.

Love this cute way to green up your grocery shopping (this would also make a fun gym bag).
Plus, I can use it to display my new last initial!

One more from the goddess of goodness herself. I can see these all over our house: Organizing pet items, in the laundry room, in the living room armoire, in the craft closet, for bill filing, and in the bathroom organizing all my beauty paraphernalia. Stylish Storage Boxes with Labels via Martha.
