Wear this Room...Green Bean

Good Monday Morning lovelies! Did everyone have a nice weekend? We did (with the exception of my sprained foot. Is it weird to be a little proud of my first running injury? It makes me feel like a real runner!)

Anyway...on to the gorgeous green goodness. My passions for interior design and fashion often cross paths. Colors and patterns I love in an interior are usually present in my closet. And its no secret that green is my favorite color. I wear it all the time, use it in a lot of my design work, decorate with it...even our wedding's main color was a lovely grass green (Check out my yummy green wedding shoes.) I have been lusting after the newest incarnation of the Marc by Marc Jacobs Hillier Hobo bag in this lovely hue and was thrilled to find a kitchen whose cabinets were the same grassy shade. Which lead me to think...why couldn't I use this room as fashion inspiration? Thus, I give you my new little blog feature: Wear this Room. We'll see if it catches on...

I took the classic white cabinets and subway tile and translated them to a feminine blouse by J Crew. The black embroidery on the top and the black-washed wide leg denim mirror the sleek black counter top, stools & shelving. Add some pops of sherbet orange in a braided skinny belt, a boho cocktail ring and my new favorite Essie nail polish to brighten up the look (and pull in the warm shade of the pendant.) Silver ballet flats add the chrome element of the appliances and a Chan Luu wrap bracelet adds one more pop of green. The look is laid-back, classic & functional, just like my dream kitchen.

And on a final note, I am a bit obsessed with the Chan Luu wrap bracelets (but refuse to pay $200 for one.) I've bought the materials to make my own and will share the process soon in a How To. The hubs will be out of town this week for work, so its the perfect time to get crafty.

High Gloss Happy

Hello lovelies! Happy Wednesday to you. Its a snowy, icy, crazy-cold day here in Big D, so I am tucked away in our warm house, working away with a cup of tea in front of a fire. And besides cranking out some design projects, I'm also checking in on my favorite blogs and online mags. I definitley have a new favorite in High Gloss. This newbie to the online lifestyle publication game definitely did not disappoint with its premier issue. High Gloss is chock full of fashion and decorating goodies and I can't get enough. Gallery Girl

So, now that I have a fab camera, and have all of our wedding photos back (on top of all the prints and screen printed posters I've picked up at Flatstock over the years) we have a surplus of wall art. Which is never a problem for me-I love each piece we have and would have a really hard time editing. So now I am on the hunt for a clever way to display all the art and photographs I love- without it looking like a big sloppy mess. Here are some of my fave solutions from Decorpad.

Young House Love & Budget Floor Mirrors

Happy Wednesday the 13th! Today Geoff and I are celebrating 3 happy years together (and 18 days of wedded bliss!) The dust hasn't even settled on the wedding yet (pictures coming soon!), but being the type-A crazy pants that I am, of course we are already starting on another huge life event- buying our first house. We spent hours online hunting last night and hopefully will get to meet with our realtor this weekend. And leave it to me to already start mentally revamping a house we don't even own yet. I find myself spending a ton of time on house design blogs- I am especially enamored with Young House Love. Cutie-pies Sherry and John run this delightful blog thats chock-full of gorgeous, genius, affordable home design ideas and renovation projects. My fave recent post is about this cute couple and their awesomely affordable home makeover. I am totally going to steal their floor mirrors made out of old doors and weathered wood palettes idea (see photos below!) Check out Young House Love for all sorts of home ideas goodies (and be sure to visit their Projects Section for how-to's on anything you can imagine- I have a feeling this is going to come in very handy soon!)

Modern Farmhouse Kitchen

With the wedding projects winding down (only 3 weeks away!) I have to say, my thoughts are turning to my next big project. I think I must get this from my dad- he's not so great at sitting still and is always happiest when he has a project (or 3) in the works. What might this new little undertaking be? Well, 1st comes love, then comes marriage, then comes... house hunting! (Did you think I was going to say "a baby carriage?", um, not so much...) We have been looking casually, chatting about what we have to have and can live without in our new little nest. But after the wedding, we hope to actually buy in the next year or so. And I have to say, the kitchen can really make or break a potential home. I am dreaming of a warm bright kitchen, with dark woods, white walls, gorgeous hardwood floors, lots of chrome and pops of red (like my fave Big Red.) I love the look of a modern cozy vintage farmhouse (I said modern, not a bunch of roosters and hay...)
