Closet Organization Extravaganza!

Sounds fancy right? Well good. Because it totally is. Another one of my goals for my
30 before 30 project was to get our closet super duper organized. I spent last weekend running to Ikea about a billion times (shoe shelves? check. scarf organizer? check. awesome baskets? double check.), throwing everything out of the closet and making husband try on (and get rid of) lots of stuff. I was basically a tornado. So, here are the before pics (almost too embarrassing to post) and the afters (organized oasis for fashion) as well as some helpful organizing tips. This has already made our lives so much simpler in the mornings. And I adore walking into our peaceful closet everyday.

Closet Organization Tips:

1. Bookshelves (we used the Ikea Billy Bookcase + the Height Extension Unit
+ 3 extra shelves) can be modified to make great inexpensive shoe shelves-
just add extra shelves for more space.
Now we can see all our shoes!

2. Pretty baskets (Ikea Pjas) keep sweaters, bags, scarves and hats easily
within reach, but look more orderly than just stacking everything on shelves.
Plus, we don't have towers of folded sweaters constantly toppling over.

3. Add a rug to dress up your closet. This one is a vintage one of my grandmother's.
It should be as beautiful, cozy & inviting as any other room.

4. Hooks keep all your necklaces and small handbags in plain site, and keep
them from becoming a tangled mess.

5. I used a basket to hold all my flip flops so they don't get scattered all over
the closet floor and so they don't take up valuable space on our lovely shoe shelves.

6. Matching hangers keep everything at the same height and look cleaner than a
jumble of different ones. (I am going to invest in huggable ones, just haven't
    gotten around to it yet...)

7. Keep boots upright and in good condition by rolling an old magazine and putting
it in the boot shaft. Works like a charm.

I would love to hear any good organizing tips or tricks you have. And please share your closets!

Happy Sunday lovelies! How is everyone's weekend? Ours was so nice and relaxing! Friday night we met one of our favorite couples Kacie & John for deep dish pizza and cocktails. They are so fun! Then Saturday, I ran a bazillion errands, and one of my BFF's Kendra (who is a buyer for an AWESOME clothing store, so therefore is ALWAYS perfectly dressed) came over and we made agave margaritas, grilled fish tacos, Mexican Street Corn (recipe from La Condessa in Austin- Holy Deliciousness) and key lime pie for dessert. And then we watched The Hangover in our PJ's. Such a perfect, yummy night.

And today, I made Protein pancakes for breakfast and have been lounging in my jammers and getting some work (and blogging) done. Oh and I napped. Cause a 2 hour nap on a Sunday is one of my very favorite things ever. ever.

Ok, lets get down to business. Raise your hand if you are obsessed with Pinterest.
Ok, I see a few hands...
For those with hands in their laps, you have to check this out. I've talked about Wists, Fffound & Polyvore before, but Pinterest is a new concept in saving the things you love from around the web. Find an image that you must keep? Something that inspires you? A new craft or tutorial that you just can't forget about? The new haircut you want to show your stylist? Yep-just Pin it. And the other best part is that you can check out what everyone else is pinning-and follow them. Its such an amazing one-stop-shop for inspiration. So sign up and get pinning. (FYI: you have to get an "invitation," but just sign up and they'll approve you in the next day or so.)

These pics above are from my "DIY" Pinterest board. Its where I keep all the stuff I am dying to make-these are my fave 5. Now if I had a free afternoon...

Scrabblicious & Wedding Photo Sneak Peek

Hi lovelies! I am taking a little break from fashion today to share one of my fave wedding crafts! Remember this post? As soon as I saw these babies I knew they had to be our favors. And after many hours of gluing (and the Hubs spelling inappropriate things...) we completed 125 sets of Scrabble Magnet Favors, boxed them in adorable oversized matchbooks & tied with our signature stamped tags. And here is how they came out! I was thrilled and wanted to share.

And here are a few shots of our September wedding at the GORGEOUS Barr Mansion
It was such a beautiful and special day and I can't wait to share all of them with you soon...

Plus, I am putting together a DIY Section to share How To's on all the crafty critter projects I did for our day!

P.S. See if you can spot this...

30 for 30 Day 20 & Cute Holiday Cards

Good Monday morning pretties! I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I know I sound like a broken record, but I'm still sick. Trust me, I'm as tired of it as you are. But I drug myself to a doc yesterday and now have an arsenal of meds to get me better. Here's hoping I'm back to my old self soon- I'm really not loving the red nose and glazed expression in my last several outfit posts.

I generally hate being stuck in bed all weekend long, but I didn't mind so much this time- I actually did a lot of my Christmas shopping online. I also picked out our Christmas cards at Shutterfly. (I have used them for several books I have made for Geoff and really liked the quality.) Being a designer, I generally like to design things myself, but this year its just too busy. Plus, they have such cute designs and the process is so easy so I really couldn't say no. And to top it off, the are offering 50 free cards for bloggers- which is perfect because I was going to use them anyway and now I can get my cards for free!

I love the idea of having a photo card every year- then when we are old and gray we can look back and see how much we changed every year. Plus, this year will be our first card as a married couple, so I am going to use one of our wedding photos. Sweet right?

Check out some of my favorite Shutterfly designs. They have lots of options, from flat cards to folded, with all sorts of different messages. I think we are going to go with the Frosted Glass Monogram Flat card for ours- I think it will look really elegant with a wedding photo, plus I like using my new monogram whenever possible. I'm also thinking of doing some cute photo calendars for family gifts.
Head over to Shutterfly and check them out!

Finally, this is what I put on for lunch with my family on Sunday. It was chilly and I wanted to be comfy and cozy-so I turned to my fave black boyfriend cardi and a warm scarf. When we got home from lunch we did a little backyard photoshoot before I put my sweats back on and headed to the doc. Our little Boo Calvin wanted to be in the pics (but he really doesn't like being held.) Check out pic #2-he's totally sticking his tongue out as he struggled to get put down-I almost dropped him. He's so awkward. I guess he gets that from me...
