What the what? (Dallas Rock n' Roll Half Marathon)

Do you ever think something sounds like the most genius idea you've ever heard, only to wake up the next morning thinking "Um, wait....what?" Yeah that just happened to me. Mom and Dad were in town yesterday, and we went to yummy Maggiano's for dinner. OMG- I wanted to crawl into my Chicken Parm dinner and live in there. Yummo.

Anyway, did I mention that Mom and Dad are Marathon Runners & Tri-athletes? Yeah, they pretty much rock. Mom qualified for the Boston Marathon this year (that will be her 9th marathon) and Dad will be doing the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon too. They are my heroes.

So we are at dinner last night, stuffing our faces with pasta, and I am talking about my 30 before 30 goal to do a 5k. And somehow it progressed to discussing the Dallas Rock n' Roll Half Marathon. And then when we get home, & husband and dad sign both the hubs and I up! Wait, what?

I am equally excited and nervous. I love to exercise, but I am not a runner. I tend to stick to spinning and yoga, so this is a definite departure. But husband is an amazing motivator, and I love the idea of doing a race with my parents. And I am committed to the Komen cause- which makes it even better.
Holy crap-here we go! 

Now the hubs and I are off to get fitted for proper running shoes...

3 Things: Current Obsessions

 

Yes, I know that Christmas is over, and after all the shopping and gift giving, I am definitely on a shopping diet for a bit. But that doesn't mean I'm going to stop making lists, right?

Here are 3 things I am loving right now. How cute cute cute is the carbs cookie jar from Jonathan Adler? It cracks me up. Carbs are my favorite food group- so I definitely need one. Also loving the Suitcase Sewing and Knitting Kit from Kate's Paperie. This would definitely inspire me to get some stitching projects going. Also need to pick up one of these Gold Pineapple Bowls from Jayson Home and Garden. It would make the perfect hostess gift.

BTW, I am planning on actually getting out of my yoga pants today, so I'll have an OOTD tomorrow.
My parents are coming in town today and I cannot wait!!

My AWESOME In-Laws & Brother & Sister-in-Law + Lots of Naps + Roaring Fire + Watching the Doggies Play & Nap + Homemade Fudge + Awesome Presents from Santa + Crazy Chinese Gift Exchange + PIE! + Silly Antler Hats + My Sweet Hubs = Super Fab Christmas.

The only thing missing was my parents, brother and sis in law, and my side of the family. I am so blessed to have so many people I love in my life.
I hope your holiday was full of yummy food, loved ones and fun.

P.S. No outfits of the day over the holiday...I pretty much wore yoga pants, my fave Gap boyfriend sweater and no makeup the entire weekend. Not exactly OOTD material.

Gallery Girl

So, now that I have a fab camera, and have all of our wedding photos back (on top of all the prints and screen printed posters I've picked up at Flatstock over the years) we have a surplus of wall art. Which is never a problem for me-I love each piece we have and would have a really hard time editing. So now I am on the hunt for a clever way to display all the art and photographs I love- without it looking like a big sloppy mess. Here are some of my fave solutions from Decorpad.

What a Rebel

Husband and I had our Christmas date tonight. We spent the evening just the two of us, opened our presents to each other and went for a romantic sushi dinner. And Husband got me the King of all Christmas presents, a Canon Rebel T2i!!! SQUEEEE! I am so excited! I have already been running all over the house taking shots of anything that would hold still-especially the pets. (BTW, the dooger is Calvin and the kitty is Ellie Mae.) Check out some of my first practice shots. I can't wait to learn how to use all the features and fun manual modes. Thank you, thank you honey bunny- best present ever!!
