Grown Up Paper Dolls

I...

Spent time with my wonderful parents who came to visit • Had an amazing dinner with them, the hubs, and family friends at Abacus (lobster shooters + truffle risotto + blood orange caramel creme brulee = happy tummy) • Continued our training with a weekend run (fave "Get me up this hill even though I feel like I'm going to hyperventilate" song? Emenim's 'Till I Collapse • Got a haircut (decided against the bangs...) • Napped and read most of Sunday cause it was cold and blucky outside • Made this for Sunday dinner- one of the hubs' favorites • Cleaned up multiple times after our poor Boo who wasn't feeling so good (TMI?) • Watched a marathon of The Tudors • Worked on a freelance Menu Design • Loving tagging on Pinterst and spending way too much time on Fonts in Use • Got the rough cut of our wedding video in the mail- and cried while we watched it.

And...I spent more time on the serious time suck, er, awesome and totally-productive-use-of-my-time site Polyvore. I can't get enough. The hubs calls it my "video game." He likes to play things where you shoot people, I like to play grown-up paper dolls. Sue me. Its just one more way for me to over-analyze my life. I love to make sets of what I've worn in a week. The purpose of this OCD weirdness? Well, a.) it keeps me from wearing the same pants everyday b.) I like looking back over my outfits and thinking of ways to remix items & c.) its strangely relaxing. Plus, I kind of feel like Cher in Clueless with her computerized wardrobe...

Honey Bun (30 for 30 Day 26)

Good morning! Its finally Thursday. Woot. (But since I have tomorow off its my Friday!) I totally need that extra day to get caught up and finish all my little Christmas elf errands. My shopping is all done but need to finish some wrapping & other little projects. I actually feel like I am on top of things this year- which is toally rare.

And husband's parents are coming to visit on Saturday! We can't wait. I am so blessed to have in laws that I love spending time with-they are hilarious and so so so much fun.

So that's me in a nutshell right now. Fascinating? Time Person of the Year Material? Um, No. But we in the bloggy wold can't be interesting all the time right? That's just too much pressure.

As is doing my hair somedays. I just can't be counted on to be perfectly coiffed at all times. Sometimes its a miracle if I make it out of the house fully dressed with any makeup on. As I was fixing my hair I remembered Miss Sydney at The Daybook posted a fun tutorial for her "Carrie Bun" so I gave it a go. And kind of loved it. So what if the hubs says I look a bit like Mrs. Garrison from The Facts of Life? I think I look like a ballerina. (Maybe my ballet name could be "Grey Goose" instead of "Black Swan"...seems much more fitting...)

Hoot. Woot. (30 for 30 Day 21)

The alternate tile for this post was "Back in Black." But then I changed my mind. (Because Hoot & Woot rhyme. And we found an owl to take pics with. And thats awesome.) Or maybe "Sinusitis-Rex," which is what the hubs has been calling me while I am sick. Either way, I'm trying to fancy up this plain-jane ensemble with a sassy title. Is it working?

And do you like my new, darker, a-shade-not-from-nature hair color? I haven't decided what I think about it yet, but its supposed to wash out in a month, so I guess if I decide I hate it its no biggie.

Now off to eat homemade pot pie and watch Wheel of Fortune with my hubs.

Party Perfect Neckwear (& 30 for 30 Day 13)

OK, ladies, party season officially snuck up on me. And after all the dresses I bought for all of my wedding events, I am not planning on investing in any new partywear this season. But how boring is it to wear the same LBD over and over? Lame. I've been looking for an affordable way to dress up what I already have for the season. Enter Festive Neckwear! These pieces make it easy to add a lttle luxe to a plain jane ensemble. Just throw one of these babies around your neck and you are ready to party. (I'm thinking I need the LOFT sequin Skinny scarf to wear with jeans and the Forever 21 (32?) feather collar to fancy up my party dress.) Lovely!

And here is Lucky Number 13 on our 30 for 30 journey. You really can't go wrong with a classic black shift dress. Add some buttery tan leather accessories, a couple pops of turquoise and you are good to go. One of these pics is not like the others...10 points for whoever can spot the oddball.
