Yes, Thanksgiving is a month away, but I have had the idea of what it means to truly be grateful on my mind lately. It seems to keep coming up in both conversation & situation. I complain about being less financially sound lately, and then I remember how very lucky I am to even have a roof over my head. And when I feel so overwhelmed and cranky at work, I think about my amazing, strong, wonderful Papa (my dad's dad) who is so bravely battling cancer and having a series of 3 surgeries to correct tremors from the chemo that is saving his life. And these surgeries are working! And his tumors are shrinking! For this, I am so truly grateful. And I am grateful for my family, friends, and amazing boyfriend that I adore, and for Miranda's tiny babies who are growing so fast. There are miracles all around, and this post is serving to remind me of this today- I am BLESSED beyond belief. So maybe my little stresses aren't so big...

Gretchen over at The Happiness Project helped me realize this with the below post, and also points out that there are always things one can do to change the way you feel about a situation:

"One of the most important principles I’ve learned from my happiness research is that although we assume that we act because of the way we feel, often we feel because of the way we act.
Therefore, if you don’t like the way you’re feeling, take action in the opposite direction -- it sounds simplistic, but it’s almost uncannily effective. If you’re feeling poor, give something away. If you’re feeling powerless, take control of something. Also, one of the quickest ways to make yourself feel better is to be GRATEFUL. It’s hard to feel grateful when you’re thinking about your 401K’s drop in value; thinking about giving to people who are worse off will remind you of how much you have to be grateful for."

MIA...and Fashionable Flikr

No, I'm not dead, I haven't run off to join the circus, or become some sort of crazy hermit cat lady. I've just been so busy! High Point Furniture Market is off and running and we got a ton of marketing materials out for that over the last month, so thats what i have been up to. I hope a ton of people visit our Four Hands booth and see all the new goodies we have. Now that I am back in the land of the living, I have a new obsession: Flickr. Yes, I know- I am waaaaay late to this game. But I love using it to see what people are wearing-Like my newest girl crush, Piksi (originally blogged over at one of my fabulous daily reads Creature Comforts). This girl is so put together and beautiful and retro and wonderful all at the same time. Enjoy some of her greatest hits below and visit her Flickr Page here.
Happy Monday to all!

So Happy Together...

I can't believe it that its already been a year since I met Geoff. Its gone so fast! He is so amazing, and this year has been the best of my life. Happy Anniversary baby! I lurve you!

The night we met!

Welcome to the World Tiny Heastons!

They're here! My good friend Miranda and her sweet hubby Roger welcomed 2 boys on October 10th-Truman Holt Heaston & Creed Vernon Heaston! I am so thrilled for you guys! And, I feel a bit silly admitting this, but as I was driving to Dallas on Friday, the Dixie Chicks song "Godspeed (Sweet Dreams)" came on and I started crying thinking about all Miranda and Roger went through to bring these little miracles (literally) into the world. The lyrics are so appropriate when I think about how loved these tiny little babies already are. Godspeed baby Heastons- we love you!

Pretty Perfect Punkins

These gourds are gorgeous! But what else would you expect from Ms. Perfect herself, Martha Stewart?! She always has the best ideas for all your pumpkin carving needs, and this year is no different. Our "girly craft night" theme this month is, of course, Halloween Pumpkin Carving, so I've been on the lookout for some fun ideas that are a little out of the ordinary. I am loving the glittered pumpkins below- and my Mom loves the idea of using them as pots for flowers- so pretty and elegant. And, the coolest (and really difficult-looking) Egar Allen Poe-inspired pumpkins at the bottom are amazing!
Happy carving to all!!
